Dr. Eric Dodson, DO

Dr. Eric Dodson is an Osteopathic Pediatrician at All Ages Pediatrics with a diverse educational and professional background. Dr. Dodson began his pediatrics career at Blank Children’s Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, and by 2003, he had received his Pediatrics certification and moved to Ottumwa. Over the years, he has served in numerous roles, including Chief of Medical Staff at the local hospital, elder at Northgate Alliance Church, and as a member of the local medical society and various boards, including the Bridgeview Board and the Hose Trust Board. Dr. Dodson has hospital privileges at Ottumwa Regional Health Center and continues to do pediatric call coverage for Ottumwa. He is very experienced in newborn critical care, emergency management, psychiatric care, and preventative care.

Dr. Dodson initially acquired degrees in Psychology and Industrial Technology while working full-time as a house supervisor, counselor and mental health technician at a psychiatric hospital with 4 children’s units. His college career was significant for 5 years of student senate and 5 years as an officer in his fraternity, along with organizing and coordinating the largest fundraiser that had ever been run by a single organization. (It was for the March of Dimes for childrens birth defects.) Later, Dr. Dodson transitioned to designing cars in Detroit and Toledo for several years, mostly for Jeep Truck Engineering, before following his true calling in medicine and earning a degree in Biology Pre-Med and then completing medical school in 2000.  From the first day of his first Pediatrics rotation, in roughly 1998 he dedicated himself to pediatric healthcare.

Outside of work, Dr. Dodson enjoys boating on Lake Rathbun and spending time with his family and friends.  He lives in Ottumwa, with his wife Kate, his son Nolan (11,) daughter Claire (9.)  His son Christopher (31) works in IT at Truman State, Levi (21,) is in his 3rd year at Iowa State for aerospace engineering and Annabelle (20) is at the University of Iowa in Pre-Law
