With onsite lab testing, Dr. Dodson gets information about your child’s health quickly. It also saves you the hassle of having to go to another clinic or lab for testing.

What types of lab testing are available?

All Ages Pediatrics PC offers many in-office lab testing services. Some of the services available include:

How do I know what type of lab testing my child needs?

Dr. Dodson determines what types of lab testing your child needs during their visit. Some lab tests are performed during your child’s annual wellness exam to assess their general health.

Other lab tests may be requested during sick visits to determine the root cause of your child’s symptoms so Dr. Dodson ensures your child gets the right treatment.

What is the COVID-19 test?

The COVID-19 test checks for an active COVID-19 infection. COVID-19 is a disease caused by the highly contagious severe respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV2).

All Ages Pediatrics PC offers both rapid and normal COVID testing.

Rapid COVID-19 testing

Rapid COVID-19 testing is either a PCR test or an isothermal test that provides results within a few minutes or a few hours. The rapid COVID test may be recommended if your child has obvious COVID-19 symptoms. These are both nucleic acid amplification tests (NAA,) not antigen tests.

  • Biofire Viral Panel = PCR (45-60 minutes)
  • Abbott ID Now = isothermal (15 minutes)

Normal COVID-19 testing

The normal COVID-19 test is a free PCR test thru the state and usually takes 2-7 days to get results back.

There is also an Indian Hills PCR test for Indian Hills students that goes to a different lab.

You should have your child tested if they have COVID-19 symptoms like fever, coughing, or shortness of breath, or were in contact with someone who tested positive for COVID-19.
